அது என்னமோ இந்த ப்ரோக்ராம்மோட கான்சப்ட் மட்டும் எனக்கு புரியலை. வாழ்க்கைல எந்த துன்பமும் இல்லாம சந்தோஷமா இருக்கறவங்க இவ்வளவு காச கண்ணால கூட பார்க்க கூடாதா? கணவர் விட்டுட்டு போனவங்க, அப்பா அம்மா இல்லாதவங்க, படிக்க வசதி இல்லாதவங்க.. இவங்க எல்லாம் தான் வராங்க. ஒரு வேளை சந்தோஷமா இருக்கறவங்ககிட்ட எல்லாம் அம்பது லட்சதுக்கு மேல இருக்கா? (நான் நிம்மதியா, கடவுள் அனுக்ரஹத்தில எந்த குறையும் இல்லாம தான் இருக்கேன். ஆனா என்கிட்டே அவ்ளோ தேராது). நான் தப்பு சொல்லலை. அவங்க செலக்ட் பண்ற நோக்கம் சரியா இருக்கு. ஆனா ஒரு சேஞ்சுக்கு எந்த கஷ்டமும் இல்லாதவங்களையும் கூப்பிடலாமே.. சந்தோஷமா இருக்கறவங்க மத்தவங்களுக்கு உதவி செய்ய மாட்டாங்களா?

இந்த வாரம் ரெண்டு எபிசோட் பார்த்தேன். ஒன்னு, கிராமிய கலைகளை கத்துக்கிட்டு அத வளர்க்கனும்னு ஆசைப்பட்ட ஒருத்தர். நல்லாவே இருந்துது.. (அதுலயும் எனக்கு ஒரு டவுட்.. டான்ஸ்ல எவ்வளவோ இருக்கும்போது, நிறைய பேரு அத ஒரு சாகச கலையா தான் பார்க்கராங்களோனு தோணுது. ஆடினவர் நல்லாவே ஆடினார். ஆனா, கைத்தட்டல் நிறைய வந்தது அவர் பெஞ்ச் மேல ஏறி நின்னு ஆடினதுக்கு தான்.. ).. என்னடா இது நம்ம ஆசை பட்டா மாதிரி சந்தோஷமா (அவர் ரொம்ப பெரிய கஷ்டத்துல இருக்கறவர் மாதிரி எனக்கு தோணலை.. ) இருக்கற ஒருத்தர கூப்பிட்டாங்களேன்னு நினைச்சேன். கூடவே ரெண்டாவது எபிசோட் ஒன்னும் பார்த்தேன். அதுல ஒருத்தர்.. அரசியல்வாதி ஆகணுமாம்.. அடக்கடவுளே.. அந்த கொடுமைய நீங்களே பாருங்க.. நோ கமெண்ட்ஸ்.

காமன்வெல்த்:

சும்மா சொல்லக்கூடாதுங்க நம்ம ஆட்க்கள.. அவன் மேல பழிய போட்டு இவன் மேல பழிய போட்டு, எல்லா ட்ராமாவும் நடத்தி, ஒரு வழிய "கோலாகல கொண்டாட்டமா" ஆரம்பிச்சிட்டாங்க. நம்ம எல்லோரோட ப்ளட் பிரஷர்-யும் எக்கச்சக்கத்துக்கு எத்தி விட்டு, எல்லாத்தையும் கடைசி வரைக்கும் பெண்டிங்க்ல வெச்சி அப்பறம் தான் முடிப்போம்னு தேரிலே பாவம் மத்தவங்களுக்கு. கலைவிழா நல்லா இருந்துது. மத்தபடி எந்த விஷயமும் எனக்கு பிடிக்கலை. தன்னடக்கம்-ன்னு ஒரு வார்த்தையும் இருக்கு.. அதையும் கத்துக்கலாம்ன்னு எல்லாம் இவங்களுக்கு எப்போ தோணுமோ? அந்த கடவுளுக்கு தான் வெளிச்சம்!

கொஞ்சமா எந்திரன்: 

நிஜம்மாவே கொஞ்சூண்டு தான்.. ஏன்னா, சொல்றதுக்கு நிறையவே இருக்கு. டைம் தான் இல்லே. Hopefully, I will share my first impression before its too late. ஒரு வழியா பார்த்துட்டேன். இங்க பெல்ஜியம்ல எங்கேயும் இல்லே. யாஹூ ஆன்சர்-ல எல்லாம் கேட்டு எங்கயும் பதில் கிடைக்காம, யாரோ சொன்னாங்க… இங்க நெதர்லாண்ட்ஸ்ல ரெண்டு மூணு தியேட்டர்ல, அதுவும் இந்த வீக்கென்ட் மட்டும் ஸ்க்ரீன் பண்றதா .. நல்ல வேளையா தப்பிச்சேன்.. எதுவும் மாட்டலைன்னா பாரீஸ்-க்கு போறதா ஒரு ப்ளான்  இருந்துது.. (வீட்ல பயங்கர திட்டு..  ரெண்டு மணி நேரம் படத்துக்கு நாலு மணி நேரம் வண்டிய ஓட்டிட்டு போக சொல்றியே.. என்னா வில்லத்தனம் உனக்குன்னு). மூவி நல்லாவே இருந்துது... நிறைய இருக்கு பேச. ஒரு விஷயம் மட்டும் இப்போ.. தயவு செய்து இன்னும் படம் பார்க்காதவங்க, எந்திரன் பற்றிய போஸ்ட் எல்லாம் படிச்சிடாதீங்க. அந்த தப்பை நான் பண்ணேன்.. கிட்டத்தட்ட ஒவ்வொரு சீன்லேயும் மனசுக்குள்ள அடுத்தது இது தான்.. அடுத்தது இதுதான்னு ஒப்பிச்சிகிட்டே இருந்தேன். அதுவும் எல்லோரும் அந்த கிடைசி 40 நிமிஷம் பத்தி போட்ட பிட்டுல ரொம்பவே ஏமாந்துட்டேன். (40 நிமிஷம் நல்லா தான் இருந்துது. ஆனா எதிர்பார்ப்பு ரொம்ப ஆகவே, ஸ்க்ரீன்-ல பார்த்ததுல இண்டரஸ்ட் இல்லாம போய்டுச்சு).

http://howsecureismypassword.net/ is a nice little tool that says how long does a desktop PC would take to crack your password. It is based on a simple calculation that

time taken to crack = (number of possible characters ^ password length) / calculations per second

Of course, they take into consideration that most common words can be easily cracked.

Other interesting thing about this tool is that, web developers can download the jQuery plugin that runs this. It is called Chrono Strength and can be downloaded from here. You can use it in your project to validate the strength of the password provided via a form or at the time of sign up, etc.

Google Font Preview

I’m sure most of you would have heard about the Google Font Directory. Google hosts a collection of web fonts that can be used by you in your site or blog. They operate on open source licensing and are not necessary to be downloaded before use!

How does it work?
All you would have to do is select the font from the list and hit the tab “Get the code”. You are now given an HTML <link> tag that you can include within the <head> tag.

You can reference to it as any other normal font in your styling. Something like

        p {font-family: ‘Inconsolata’}

It removes the hassle of making your font available as .ttf and to make users download it, if necessary. The ease of changing the font is the most useful power of these web fonts.

Google had gone one step further to help the Web developers to frame the CSS with these fonts in the way that they want to. Hit http://code.google.com/webfonts/preview and take a note at their chic interface of font formatting. You can, here, select the font, size, and other formatting details. You can observe the CSS code beneath the display being updated for your selection. All you have to do, then, is just copy paste this code on to your CSS for the desired element. They also include the link that you need to provide in your <head> tag.

Moving your wordpress blog to another domain

This is a quick sum up of steps-to-do for moving / copying your wordpress blog/site from one domain to another.
When there is always a possibility to do it more properly or elaborately, what I'm going to brush up here is a quick method of doing it.

1. Start copying your theme files to your destination host. (Let me tell you… this is the only lengthy process of the whole move). Do the following in the meantime.

2. Take a backup of your wordpress database. You can either use phpMyAdmin or backup utility from your hosting service or a direct mysqldump to do this.

             -> phpMyAdmin: Can be launched from the control panel of your hosting site.

             -> Backup utility: Can also be run from the control panel of your hosting site.

             -> mysqldump: Here is the command to do that from the command line (make sure that you are pointing to the correct MySql server while running this)

                         > mysqldump -u <username> -p <database_name> --result-file=<dumpfile_path_and_name>

                         This command would ask for your password.

3. Create a new empty database on your destination host.

4. Run the backup. Again, this could be done via either of the three options told before.

5. You would need to update two values on your wordpress options table. Though you can use a direct SQL, I would suggest phpMyAdmin for this. Login to the phpMyAdmin screen.
             Search for a table called Options in the list of all tables. Edit the following two values:
                        > option_id=1 (siteurl) & option_id=39 (homeurl): You would observe that both of these contain the URL of your previous domain. Change them to the new one.

And that’s all about it!. Your blog/website is ready to be launched.

உங்க ப்ளாகில் Forum அமைக்க

இப்போ இருக்கற வெட்டி வேலை போதாது, மத்தவங்கள நம்ம ப்ளாகிலேயே குடி இருக்க வெக்கணும்னு நினைக்கறவங்க… இல்லே நாம எதாவது உபயோகமா ஷேர் பண்ணிக்குவோமேனு (என்னைய மாதிரி) நினைக்கறவங்க உங்க ப்ளாகிலேயே ஒரு forum சேர்த்துக்கலாம்.

Tal.ki – A Free Forum For Your Website or Blog

Planning to make a forum on your site or your blog? Tal.ki is a free forum application that installs an user forum on your website. It is also a one-minute-setup. All you have to do is to grab the piece of code from here and copy it to wherever you want within your site. And you are ready to go!

Unlike most of the other sites / free stuffs, this Tal.ki doesn’t require you to signup for any free accounts. The users are not required to create any account on your site. They could login using their own accounts on Google, Yahoo!, MySpace, OpenID etc. (there is a whole big list out there!). And so, there is no more account creation, and dedicated set of users on your site. You don’t have to maintain any user information in your databases or provide with sessions. Bookmarks Sync with Google

I’m not sure how many of us had noticed… Xmarks for Google Chrome browser is not working anymore. Recently, I’m facing problems with synchronizing my bookmarks/passwords across my browsers and laptops.

What is Xmarks?

A little introduction about Xmarks, for people who don’t know much about it. Xmarks is an efficient add-on that support synchronizing your bookmarks, passwords etc across different browsers and across all of your work stations. Currently they support Google Chrome, Firefox & IE. My primary browser is Google Chrome. I was one of those happy buddies when they introduced it for Chrome. You can create multiple profiles (work, home, personal etc) and organize your bookmarks in them. This was quite a powerful add-on for Firefox (I don't know how it is for IE, as I'm not using it there).

As I said before, recently the service is not working anymore for Chrome. There are server synchronization errors. For people who face this, Google Bookmarks could be an alternate. While in Firefox, you need a add-on to use this, in Chrome it's not the case. You can use the "Sync" feature for synchronizing your bookmarks to your Google Account (which then is replicated to other browsers). And it is just not bookmarks. You can also add your theme to it. Though, not very useful for other browsers, but for people working primarily on Chrome, it provides the same environment & mood everywhere!

How to setup?

1. Choose "Setup Sync" from Customization menu on your chrome.
2. Sign in to your account. And that's all you have to do.

The synchronization of bookmarks happen until you are logged in to your account on the browser. Once you log-out the synchronization stops. But nothing is deleted from your Google account itself. Only the changes that you make (to bookmarks etc) will not get to your account.

What are the added advantages of using "Google"?

1. No data is lost anywhere. Everything is in your Google account.
2. You don't have to sign in to, yet another service for synchronizing bookmarks.
3. Create lists & share your bookmarks with others.
4. Fully searchable.

 

 

All those are OK.. but where are these stored in Google? Don’t rush to www.google.com/bookmarks. They are stored in your Google Docs now. You can find them under “Google Chrome” directory.

My Take: I do see that I cannot launch Bookmarks from within the Google Docs. May be it's intended. But strange!! :)

இன்டர்நெட் எக்ஸ்ப்ளோரர் 9 - எப்படி இருக்கும்?

இன்டர்நெட் எக்ஸ்ப்ளோரர் 9-ல பல புது விஷயம் எல்லாம் வர போகுது. இது வரைக்கும் எந்த web standards-யும் மதிக்காத மைக்ரோசாப்ட், இதுல ரொம்ப திருந்திருக்காங்கனு கேள்வி பட்டேன். அதுல ஒரு சில விஷயம்ஸ் இதோ..

- HTML5 & CSS3 சப்போர்ட். 
- ஸ்பீட் & மெமரி விஷயத்துல ரொம்ப சேன்ஜ் இருக்கு. (பின்ன.. chrome, firefox எல்லாம் சமாளிக்கனுமே)
- மத்தவங்களும் IE-க்காக டெவலப் பண்ணலாம். அதுக்கு வழி பண்ணிருக்காங்க.

சரி.. இதெல்லாம் இருக்கட்டும். IE9 ஒரு ப்ரிவ்யூ பார்த்துடலாமா? இத டவுன்லோட் பண்ணி இன்ஸ்டால் பண்ணி பாருங்க.

How Google search works?

மன்ஹாட்டன் நகர டாக்டர் ஒருத்தர் குடிக்க தண்ணீர் கேட்டதால அவரையும் அவர் குடும்பத்தையும் விமானத்த விட்டு இறங்க சொல்லிட்டாங்களாம். 

La Guardia விமான நிலையத்துல 2 மணி நேரமா நின்னுகிட்டு இருந்த ஸ்பிரிட் விமானத்துல தான் இந்த கூத்து நடந்திருக்கு. டாக்டர் அவரோட கர்ப்பிணி மனைவிக்காக குடுக்க தண்ணீர் கேட்டிருக்கார். டேக் ஆப்-க்கு முன்னாடி நாங்க தண்ணி குடுக்க மாட்டோம். அது எங்க பாலிசில இல்லேன்னு சொல்லிருக்காங்க. அவர் விடாம கேட்டதால, அவரையும் அவர் குடும்பத்தையும் (மரியாதையா!?) இறங்க சொல்லிட்டாங்க.

டாரென்ட் இணையதளங்களுக்கு குடுக்கவோ, மற்ற பிற உபயோகங்களுக்கோ ஒரு படத்தை ஸ்க்ரீன் ஷாட் எடுக்க நாம் வி.எல்.சி. (VLC) பிளேயர்-ஐ பயன்படுத்தலாம். ஸ்க்ரீன் ஷாட் எடுப்பது எப்படின்னு கீழ பாருங்க.

1. முதல்ல வி.எல்.சி. பிளேயர்-இல் உங்களுக்கு பிடிச்ச படத்தை ஓபன் பண்ணிடுங்க.

2. ஸ்க்ரீன் ஷாட் எடுக்கவேண்டிய இடம் வந்தவுடன், தற்காலிகமாக படத்தை நிறுத்திவிட்டு (Pause), மெனுவிலிருந்து Video --> Snapshot -ஐ கிளிக் பண்ணுங்க.

அவ்ளோதான். நீங்க வி.எல்.சி. பிளேயர்-ல குடுத்திருக்கும் default location -ல போய் சேவ் ஆகிடும்.

Google Search – Updates News Results

This afternoon, I was trying to search for the release date for the “My Name Is Khan” movie.. and stumbled upon this cool feature of Google. Not sure if anybody of you read about this already.

This is what is happening. The “Latest results” for your search string get updated in “live” in a small panel beneath the news results. I think, Google adds the new search result to the small window there as and when it finds the updates. And more, it even adds the latest twitters on the search string.

Cool isn’t it? Check out. ;)

Update: I just heard that Google introduced this feature a while ago. But, unfortunately, I never noticed it!
